We are hosting The Football Special, a great resource by the Football Memories Scotland project that replicates the experience of the old Saturday evening sports paper.
Football Memories was the first reminiscence programme designed to help older football supporters who were lonely, socially isolated or living with memory problems and other long-term conditions. It started in Falkirk in Scotland and has now spread far and wide, with groups in Holland, America, Spain and Brazil, as well as all over the UK.
During lockdown, it’s not possible for groups to meet in person, so the volunteers that run the Football Memories meetings in these communities decided to replicate the old Saturday evening football papers and issue a weekly Football Special.
BackPage have supported Football Memories Scotland since its inception in 2009 and are proud to do so. Please, if you can, share these resources – which include features, old match reports and quizzes – with older supporters, friends, family members and neighbours who might not have access to a computer.
